Prisma Dance Instructors



Joanna Lam has trained in classical ballet technique for twenty years.  She has performed many leading roles in school and junior company productions, the Nutcracker, and classical ballet repertory through Hawaii State Ballet since the age of ten.  After graduating from high school, Joanna pursued other forms of dance.   At Diamond Head Theater, she studied tap dancing from Caryn Yee.  In 2008, Joanna attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where she began studying modern technique and in 2010 earned a BA in Studio Art and a minor in dance.   Summer of 2010, Joanna earned a certificate of achievement from the Pulse on Tour Teacher Workshop which is also partnered with Broadway Dance Center.  Through Moments Unforgettable Performing Arts School and Agency, Joanna has performed in three large productions: HIstory: of Christmas 2009 & 2011, HIstory: of Easter 2013, and HIstory: For Hawaii 2013; including co-choreographing Soul Cry.  For the past eight years, Joanna has been an assistant instructor of Prisma Ballet which instructs classical ballet technique to children ages three to adult, and she is currently a dancer and instructor with Prisma Ballet.  Joanna’s heart and life’s passion is to use her dancing, and many forms of art, as vessels that will inspire and bless people of all generations and nationalities for the Glory of God.


Karl Vorwerk

I started doing acrobatics with the Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe in 1984. I have been teaching acrobatics and trampoline for 28 years. Our style is Sports Acrobatics, a competition style that is done without equipment. I’ve done numerous performances for over 25 years. These included anything from friends parties to corporate events and college athletic halftimes.


Crystal Yukumoto was born in Hawaii and began her classical ballet training in Europe. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Education degrees from Texas Christian University. She has danced professionally with domestic and international dance companies such as: Ballet Frontier, Commedia Ballet Theater, Contemporary Ballet Dallas, Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth, New World Ballet, North Texas Ballet Theatre, and Skånes Dansteater in Sweden. Crystal has taught ballet at various studios in the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex as well as for the Swedish National Ballet School in Malmö, Sweden. She has also taught ballroom dance through the Dancing Classrooms North Texas program, and is a 500 hour certified yoga instructor. Crystal recently got married and has moved to Honolulu from Texas to be with her husband.


Jenna Addiss first began dancing in a hula class offered through church when she was 7 years old, then when she was 10 she began a Performing Arts class offered to homeschoolers at Diamond Head Theater. In addition, she joined another performing arts program offered through a church in Aina Haina.
In 2006 she began training in ballet with Nicole Lam… in 2008 she began taking classes with Moments Unforgettable, where she began to explore other genres of dance, while continuing ballet with Nicole. In Dec 2009, Jenna was cast as a dancer and actress in the premier of HIStory: of CHRISTmas.
Jenna has been teaching beginner level dance classes (ballet, jazz and tap) since 2011 after a year of being an assistant in multiple classes. Also, in 2011, she choreographed her first 3 pieces. From 2011-2013 Jenna participated in three large scale, Moments Unforgettable productions, HIStory: of CHRISTmas, HIStory: of Easter and History: for Hawaii. Jenna co-choreographed a piece for HIStory: of Easter and Soul Cry, for History: for Hawaii.     
Jenna is looking forward to working with Prisma Dance where she can share her love of God and dance and continue to grow in both aspects.


Jordan Herd played and trained in football and basketball for 10 years. He also spent time training children and young adults for football as a JFL, junior football league, coach. He has danced freestyle Hip-Hop and Krump for the past 12 years and has been training in ballet, ballet partnering, hula, and acrobatics since 2012. He is currently being trained by Karl Vorwerk to teach basic acrobatics while continuing his own training in advanced acro. He is co-teaching strength training for dancers and acrobatics. Jordan is a certified massage therapist. 



Elisabeth Kurashige received her early training at Ballet Hawaii, under artistic director Pamela Taylor-Tongg, where she performed in works choreographed by Peter Rockford Espiritu, Minou Lallemand, and Marie Takazawa. In 2013, she graduated with a B.F.A in Dance and a Minor in Psychology at Belhaven University. While at Belhaven, she had the privilege of working with choreographers Ryan Corriston, Randall Flinn, Dorrell Martin, Caleb Mitchell, Cynthia Newland, Stephanie Powell, and Laura Morton-Zebert, performing in various pieces, including Donald McKayle’s historical work, Songs of the Disinherited. Additionally, she has furthered her training at workshops with Ad Deum Dance Company and Doug Varone and Dancers, as well as at the 2012 American Dance Festival, where she gained practical experience in technical theater as a stagecraft apprentice. Currently, she teaches dance at Ballet Hawaii, Prisma Dance, and The Movement Center, and can be seen at community events performing with Convergence Dance Theatre.

Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballet Instructor

Micaiah is a professional dancer who has spent the past ten years working as a celebrity personal trainer and fitness instructor. Not only has she taught fitness and dance classes, she has also created group fitness classes for boutique fitness and dance studios (Barreworks, Ontario School of Ballet, etc), some of the studios and classes going on to be voted “Best Workout” and “Best Fitness Studio” in Toronto (NOW magazine). Micaiah has also performed professionally and taught dance across the United States, Canada, Central America and South America. Micaiah has worked with numerous famous artists, choreographers and professional dance companies; such as Ontario Ballet Theatre, dance photographer Lois Greenfield, Hosanna Sacred Arts, SHEvisions Theatre, and OMO Dance Company. She is also the Co-Artistic Director of DeviationDance and the humanitarian program Healing Through Dance – an outreach non profit organization that brings dance and healing to communities at risk. As well as being an accomplished dancer, Micaiah earned a BA in Psychology from York University graduating summa cum laude. Micaiah’s background in dance, fitness, and psychology have all contributed to her striving to provide health and happiness to all people. She is now excited to bring all of these passions to Prisma Ballet.
