Guidelines

Please select the desired tab to read guidelines and etiquette. We expect all participants and guests to follow these guidelines to keep a healthy environment for our staff, students, families and guests!

General Guidelines and Info

Class/Level Cancelation:

Prisma Dance reserves the right to cancel or combine any class or level that does not have a sufficient number of students enrolled to support an instructor.

Prisma reserves the right to cancel class due to instructor illness/emergency with no substitute available. No proration or makeup classes.

Updates and information will be sent via email. Prisma is not responsible for ensuring that you read and stay up to date.

Illness/Emergencies/Absences:

Students with contagions (such as lice, pink eye, fever etc.) are asked to email prismadance@gmail.com and WILL refrain from attending class until the student is no longer contagious.

Please notify us ASAP at prismadance@gmail.com if your child will be missing class for any reason (Illness, emergencies, trips, etc.).

Before, During, After Class:

Prisma Dance is NOT responsible for students outside of class time, or for any siblings/minors. (Children should have adult supervision at all times.)

Parents will pick up their child(ren) promptly after class ends. (Please notify the teacher if you will be late picking up your child.)

We strongly discourage allowing your children to walk to the parking lots alone. Please come to the room to pick up your child(ren).

Level Placement/Advancement/Demotion:

Prisma Teachers have the right to place students in levels appropriate based on age and skill. For info on progression through our levels, please see our website for details.

Prisma Dance Policies, Guidelines, Etiquette: We expect all families to follow our  guidelines/etiquette procedures. Any additional info may be found on our website.

Extension School Guidelines/Etiquette

Prisma strives to be good stewards of all facilities we use, thank you for helping us achieve this goal.

Facility Use: All information that is specified per location is listed in your confirmation email.

Each individual is expected to clean up after themselves. (If cleaning equipment is not available to you, notify the teacher and they will assist you in securing what is needed.)

Eating is only allowed in designated areas (specified per location)

Parents/Siblings must wait only in designated waiting areas (specified per location.).

All trash must be thrown in trash cans.

Any spills should be IMMEDIATELY CLEANED UP.

Children should be monitored and assisted as needed in the restrooms. (Toilets are flushed, trash in is trash cans, water is turned off, proper amounts of toilet paper, paper towel and soap is used. Water spilled on the floor is cleaned up.)

Parents MUST be able to SEE all of their children while waiting. NO UNSUPERVISED CHILDREN ALLOWED.

Do not touch or use items/equipment that does not belong to Prisma Dance.

Enter/Exit the facility through the proper entrances. (Specified per location)

During Class:

Water bottles (and any other items they may need during class) should be with your child during class. They may not be allowed to go out/come to you.

No talking/phone conversations in dance rooms. Phones should be on silent or vibrate.

NO photography/videotaping during class except with teacher permission.

No talking to/scolding your child (during class).

Loud, fussy, crying children are to be removed IMMEDIATELY from room. (This applies to waiting children/siblings. NOT children in class.)

Teachers reserve the right to ask parents/siblings to wait outside the room when needed.

Kalihi School Guidelines/Etiquette

Prisma strives to be good stewards of all facilities we use, thank you for helping us achieve this goal.

General:

Each individual is expected to clean up after themselves. (Sweep up crumbs, pick up dropped food and trash, and wipe up spills. (Towels for water, paper towels for any other type of spill.) Hair should be thrown in trash can NOT dropped on floors.)

Parents/siblings must wait in designated areas only.

No horse playing or disruptive behavior allowed in waiting area. Please help us keep this area peaceful and pleasant for everyone.

All minors should have adult supervision at all times. (Prisma is not responsible for unattended minors.)

Eating is only allowed in the entrance and waiting area.

Enter and exit rooms respectfully (no slamming doors or loud voices.)

Bags/belongings should be stored neatly on provided shelves, racks, cubbies.

Young children should be monitored in the bathroom and assisted as needed. (Toilet flushed, hands washed, proper amount of paper goods, soap and water are used, floor is dry etc.)

In the Dance Rooms:

Parents/siblings are NOT allowed on the dance floors unless invited.

NO talking/phone conversations in dance rooms. Phones should be on silent or vibrate.

No photography/videotaping during class except with teacher permission.

No street shoes or slippers on dance floors. (Dance shoes should not be worn outside the studio.)

Loud, fussy, crying children are to be removed IMMEDIATELY from dance rooms. (This applies to waiting children/siblings. NOT children in class)

There is to be no excessive coming and going from dance rooms.

Student Guidelines and Expectations

Expectations: For our young students 3-7 years old, the responsibility is more on the parent than the student. Around 8 is when we begin to expect the child to carry some of the responsibility of being prepared, having their uniform together etc.

Follow Prisma School/Studio Guidelines and Class Etiquette.

Attendance: Consistent attendance and being on time is a high priority for dance and acrobatic safety and improvement.

If an absence is necessary please notify us at prismadance@gmail.com PRIOR to scheduled class and we will let your teacher know.

Students are expected to be on time and know when their classes start.

Students are expected to have their proper and complete uniform every class. (Students in Upper Levels should begin to practice doing their hair and should be able to make their own bun by Emerald I.)

Students should be focused in class, work hard with a good attitude, and be self-motivated to learn.

Students should be respectful to teachers and classmates. (Follow directions etc)

 

 

Class Etiquette:

Be ready and on time.

Bring your water bottle with you and store in designated area.

No hanging/pulling on the barres.

Use the bathroom BEFORE class.

NO jewelry allowed (post earrings okay)

NO chewing gum, mints or eating during class.

Receive TEACHER permission to leave room.

Students are to be respectful of their teachers at all times. (Arguing or complaining about class work will not be tolerated.)

No talking (Especially while teachers are talking)

No playing around. (Be focused)

Phones should be on silent during class. Students are NOT allowed to check phones during class. (Not even to tell time. Learn to read a clock.)

Bring your dance bag with you in case you need something from it.

Bags/belongings should be stored in designated areas only.

Warm – up as needed before class. (Upper levels) Emerald II – Amethyst may wear jackets/leg warmers for the beginning of class WITH TEACHER approval.

Wear the proper uniform/attire.

 

Failure to comply with Guidelines, Etiquette and Expectations may result in any of the following.

Consequences:

Students who are consistently late may not be allowed to participate in class (due to safety concerns as well as etiquette.) or may not be promoted, or be demoted.

Students who do not have their proper uniform/dress code may not be allowed to participate in class, (due to safety concerns as well as etiquette.) or may not be promoted, or be demoted.

Students who are disruptive, disrespectful or disobedient may be demoted, put on probation, or be excused temporarily or permanently from class.

Repeated Absences may be cause for demotion and or hinder promotion.
